Srinagar, June 19/2018 (KNO) : Remembering Dr Qazi Nisar on his 24th anniversary, Chairman of Hurriyat, Syed Ali Geelani on Tuesday hailed his religious, social, and political contribution. Geelani said that Qazi Nisar was a religious scholar and a humble person.

Meanwhile on the directions of Syed Ali Geelani, a high-level delegation comprising of Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani, Hakeem Ab Rashid and Bilal Sidiqi participated in Fateh Khawani of Shaheed Qazi Nisar held in Islamabad. Expressing his deep concern over human rights violations, Geelani said: “Unabated killings and brutalities are worst form of state oppression and human rights and United Nations and UNHRC should take cognizance of rights violations in Kashmir.” Geelani while referring to prevailing situation and commenting over “unabated brutalities inflicted by authorities and intimidating statements”, said: “Authorities in Delhi through its military might seem desperate to cow down our spirits, however all the follies played by them will culminate in their defeat. Representing the sentiments and aspirations of people, it has remained our stance and we have been saying that we will never succumb to any pressure and will take movement to its logical end.”

Syed Ali Geelani while referring to “coercive measures and atrocities perpetrated by forces”, said: the state authorities and New Delhi are killing innocent people and inflicting brutalities. While referring to incarcerated DeM chairman Syeda Asiya Andrabi, Fehmeeda Sofi and her other aides, Syed Ali Geelani hailed the contribution of ailing leaders and said that state authorities without any legal justification are prolonging their detention and detained them in police custody. “Despite unabated killings, plunder, arson, showering bullets and pellets on public gatherings, maiming and blinding innocent children, brute torture of youth, they failed to break the resolve and commitment of people” Geelani said.

Syed Ali Geelani, in his statement termed as “state terrorism” and blaming police authorities for repeatedly slapping PSA on Masarat Allam. “Slapping Allam with PSA on fake grounds and prolonging his detention is condemnable, said Geelani. Syed Ali Geelani while referring to detained senior leaders Mir Hafeez Ullah and Ameer Hamza Shah, said that unjustified detention won’t cow down our spirits and added that these leaders are being subjected to vengeance. Syed Ali Geelani lashed at authorities for their autocratic and brute behaviour saying, detaining resistance leaders including Qazi Yasir, Hakim Ab Rashid and Shabir Ahmad Dar and disallowing congregational prayers at Islamabad to commemorate Qazi Nisar on his anniversary, saying authorities don, t even allow us to offer our tributes to slain leaders and religious obligations.

Syed Ali Geelani while condemning the detention and nocturnal raids on residences of resistance leaders, said it is “extremely unwise” to deny political space and muzzle genuine voices of TeH leader Bashir Ahmad Qureshi and added that police in raids harassed inmates. The night raids are unbearable and unacceptable,” Geelani said and added police in a bid to prove themselves as,’’ More loyal than the king’’ are surpassing all limits, “Despite detentions, arbitrary measures and harassment, the freedom mission will be carried to its logical end, Geelani added.
